Diwali 2006: when is diwali in 2006?

Diwali 2006 will be celebrated on Oct 21st. I am eagerly looking forward to celebrating it with my 5 year old daughter. She loves those fireworks, though she puts fingers on her ears much before the cracker is even lit. Actually, it is an act of infusing an element of drama to the whole proceedings. She loves the attention when people watch her, just like any other child of her age group. In fact, incidentally, I named her Roshni few days after her birth. ‘Roshni’ is light in Hindustani- though the name has yet to gain currency.

Readers might think that I am digressing from Diwali and rather talking about my daughter a wee bit too much. But, the point I am trying to make here is different. What is Diwali after all without kids? They give the festival pep and charm. So, you would also find elders also trying to behave like kids during this festival when they horse around. In the case of newly-weds, it is time for the husband to flaunt his masculinity rather brashly. Anyways, whatever it is, I forgive all the tomfoolery on that particular day, because I too indulge in it! Have fun this year on Diwali 2006
